Setelah lepas denganEricsson Sony merilis ponsel Xperia Ion, ini adalah ponsel pertama mereka yang dijejali dengan kemampuan LTE, ponsel ini muncul di CES 2012.

Ponsel ini rencananya akan hadir dijaringan At&T di Amerika dengan kemampuan kamera HD 12 megapiksel, sedagkan layarnya berukuran 4,6 inci dengan dukungan HD-out, selain itu layarnya sangat tajam dan menjadi perangkat yang paling atraktif untuk para pecinta game dan juga foto. Untuk beralih Dari posisi standby ke modus foto hanya dibutuhkan waktu 1,5 detik.
